Artist's Statement

Kerrie has had a keen eye for composition from an early age. Career commitments have taken priority in the past and creative time has been limited. However Kerrie has started to give more time to her creative interests mostly due to a growing need to satisfy the creative exploration she craves.

Kerrie's focus is in photography, drawing, textual abstract painting and oil portraits. The oil portraits are based on her interpretation of people's emotions from archival and journalistic photography. Kerrie refers to these creative focus points as the points of her creative compass, and it very much depends on her life at a point in time as to where her creative compass points.

Kerrie is continually interested in learning technique whilst producing work. Her creative satisfaction comes from producing work which makes people think and use their imagination, pieces which encourage curiosity and enable the person to produce their own story or conclusion about the piece that is personal to them.

Biography

Kerrie Neale was born in Lancashire in 1973. She received no formal art education beyond secondary school. Kerrie now works in media within a Business Intelligence role, her role allows her to utilise elements of her creativity.

Kerrie has found time to explore and undertake self education in art and has focused on pursuing the understanding of artistic styles, techniques and movements which influence her work. Kerrie works with minimal colour combinations and uses colour for impact within her paintings rather than as an all encompassing theme, her work also utilises texture and light for visual impact.

Kerrie's photography is predominately black and white in style and covers many subjects with an emphasis on light and contrast.

Recently Kerrie has been lucky to meet like-minded and experienced artists via the CPA, whom she can discuss technique with and learn from.

Kerrie has been commissioned for several textured abstract art pieces over the past few years.
