Artist's Statement

The influence of landscape and cityscape is ever present in Jones' work, despite her increasingly abstract execution. The surfaces of her paintings are built up with layers of pumice powder, over washed with oils or acrylics in earthy or grey tones which evoke the environment on which they are based. The image grows organically, as layers are built up and previous gestures are eradicated through carving back into the surface.

Biography

Jodi Jones is a London-based artist. She graduated from Bath College with a BA Hons in 1995 and has since been exhibiting in group and solo shows in London and Europe. She also works as a community artist and has undertaken many art residencies in the UK and Europe.
