Artist's Statement

Jayne Stokes produces work that focuses on everyday experiences and explores aspects of the environment in which we live. Her most recent work has been exploring the boundaries between fact and fiction, creating stories, imaginary documentation and objects.

Using the processes of display, archive and interpretation, she aims to pose questions about the relationship between the objects she creates and discovers and the spaces in which they are encountered.

Jayne uses a wide range of materials in her work; some materials are found and collected from the surrounding environment in which she is working. She often exhibits her work in unconventional spaces including; train stations, caravans and disused buildings. These spaces often have a history to them, which can inspire ideas and influence the work.
