Artist's Statement
My work stems from interest in the unspoken, the unconscious that continually pushes through into everyday life. The half remembered dream, the peculiar strangeness that lives within the seemingly mundane, ordinary, the weaving of memory, fantasy and dream. The work that gets created is often directed by a remembered dream. I like to play with materials that excite me. The process of making is as, if not more, important as the final product. I like the work to be open to others to make of it what they will...

Biography
Amanda Francis has lived in South London since moving from Yorkshire in the 1970's. She has a BA (hons) Fine Art and Critical Studies after graduating from Central St. Martins in 1992. Since then, alongside her personal art practice, she has worked in a wide variety of roles in a wide variety of community settings. She is presently studying towards an MA Art Psychotherapy at Goldsmiths College.
